It was the clash of the titans on the Centre Court last Sunday.As they say,good things come in threes. Novak Djokovic will become a father for the first time , he recently married his long time girlfriend Jelena Rustic and on last Sunday he beat Roger Federer in a truly thrilling Wimbledon final 6-7(7), 6-4,7-6(4),5-7,6-4. The epic final lasted for three hours and 56 minutes , which saw Djokovic regain the world no.1 spot since September last year.It was his second Wimbledon title and seventh career Grand Slam. The win shattered all the hopes of Roger Federer to win a record eighth Wimbledon.The final could not have been more riveting. Federer gained the upper hand by winning the first gruelling set but the serb came back strong in the second set. In a thrilling fourth set, Djokovic broke for 3-1, Federer hit back for 2-3 but the Serb regained the initiative for 4-2 and held a nervy seventh game for 5-2.When it seemed that Federer has lost it, the swiss veteran came back and plundered five games on the bounce to take the match into the decider.He then saved a match point in the 10th game on a successful challenge to take the final into a decider. Djokovic led 2-1 in the fifth and final set when he called for his trainer for the treatment to his calf. But, he found a way to secure a thrilling victory as two untimely errors from Federer in the last set of the match sealed his fate.Shortly after his win, Djokovic plucked a blade of grass from Center Court and ate it, repeating what he did in 2011.
It tasted different, he said, but "like the best meal that I ever had in my life probably."
