Customer engagement is something that has become very important for an organisation. You need to get involved with your customers, know them, understand them and finally engage them. There is no use of an advertisement with which people can’t relate. They’ll see and forget. Instead, if we try and engage people more, they are going to remember the event forever. It is not that advertisement doesn't play its part. It does, and therefore it becomes a necessity to strike a balance.
Online platforms have become a good base to engage customers. Activities like posting of selfies etc have become very popular and people are getting more involved. This adds to the positive progress of the company.

Lets not forget, as a company, we have limited cash in our pockets. Hence, it becomes important to spend it wisely on people. Advertisement and engagement both have their positives, it is we who should know how much to use where.

It can be agreed upon that the usage of social media to engage customers has truly been taken to the next level by some companies.
I believe that finding the right balance between engaging and advertising can be the key to optimal expenditure and sustained customer interest. For example.. The Oreo 100 day Campaign had the knack to combine interactive engagement with classic advertising, with "relatively" cheaper expenditure on their part.
Engaging customers though social media will no doubt be the top priority of marketers in the foreseeable future, but attaining the balance between engagement and advertisement will help cut down costs and increase the customer's attention span to a particular product.

Completely agree with this fact that in this era if you just advertise but don't engage with your audience..then you could lose your target market segment from the customers who can easily buy the product just by showcasing some product features to them.

The way businesses interact with the customers has changed a lot..in this social age they just don't advertise but engage with their audience and this is the thing which everyone should learn.

Traditionally, brands would deliver a message to consumers in the hopes of influencing their buying decisions. But the internet has changed the playing field by putting control of what consumers see into their own hands. And what people don't want to see is advertising, spam and blatant marketing.

Now-a-days consumers goes with the products they find easier and they know how to avoid what is the better choice for them as in today's era internet gives them various options of the choice. Traditional advertising is a one-way street that delivers a message to an audience. The more an organization can expose themselves to potential consumers, the more likely they will see returns. But there are significant drawbacks to this method, not least of which is that it's expensive, and people are very adept at filtering it out.

What social media offers you is that now you not only tell the customer about your product but can also engage with them in various ways through which it becomes really easy to cater them.
