WhatsApp reached Over 70 Million Active Users in India
WhatsApp, mobile messenger service has managed to attract over 70 million active users only from India till date, which is over a 10th of its global users, its business head Neeraj Arora said on Sunday.
The Indian user base of WhatsApp contributes to more than tenth of its users on a worldwide scale. This obviously means the country is one of its biggest markets. When the company has reached to this position, there are various opportunities to churn out money from different market segments although previously the company had promised not to roll out ads on this platform.
Till date WhatsApp earns from those users who renew their subscription for a nominal fee once every year. But policies may have changed since Facebook bought the app in a $19 billion transaction only this year. While the company is now flaunting a huge global user base of 600 million, the thing which is really amaze everyone that this messenger tool is mainly supported by a staff of just 80 employees.
