Selecting players on the basis of IPL performance, fair?
Re: Selecting players on the basis of IPL performance, fair?
In my opinion, it is unfair to judge a persons capability on the basis of the IPL performance. Definitely more stress should be given to the first class performance. The formats are different, the playing style is different. Where on the one hand, IPL focuses upon big shots and high scoring, The 50 overs stresses more upon maintaining a stability and balance in the team. IPL can surely give us stars, but to make a mark, the star should perform in other forms as well.

Selecting players on the basis of IPL performance, fair?
IPL has been a craze in the recent years and has also opened up opportunities for various youngsters and upcoming cricketers. A lot of players have been brought in the limelight, thanks to this 20-20 entertainment package. But the question here is should it be the criteria for the selection of the players in the National team. Surely, a 20 over game is a lot different from a 50 over match. Shouldn't more stress be given to First class performance?
