Nokia Asha is not compatible on 3G and 4G network but I dont think it will have much impact as number of 3G and 4G users in upcoming market is not very significant. Asha 501 is a perfect match for people looking out for value for money and probably first time users.
With youth spending most of time on social media and music Nokia has given 1200 mAh battery on the palm-sized device enables 17 hours of talk time, 56 hours of music playback and 48 days of standby time on 2G networks.
So message is loud and clear to economic mobile manufacturers that "come and compete on quality". Nokia's brand recognition is very high in Indian market and if consumer are convinced they are getting value for money they will purchase product for sure.
One more important factor in mobile handset business is distribution network and Nokia is strongest in that with its reach deep down to rural shops in India. Not only that they have also tied up with India's largest Telecom provider Airtel and with Social media giant Facebook for various bundel offers to promote Asha 501.
Looks like a good offering in market covering 360 degree approach will have to wait and see consumer response and competitor's counter attack
