I totally agree with this. Any organization to grow must gets revenue going upward which is the ultimate result of growing sales volume. Different marketing strategies can be made and also implemented but its useless until it plays role in increasing sales volume. Marketing strategies are made to boost the sales revenue and if its done in proper manner like doing enough research about the consumer behavior, markets, demands & Supply, segmentation etc. will work wonder in generating more revenue. Ultimately it is the sales that will generate the revenue and keep any organization going forward.

Marketing is an outside in process and Sales is an inside out process. Marketing is about sense and respond. The customers would not buy the products themselves until the organization undertake an aggressive selling effort.
The typical goal of marketing is to generate interest in the product and create leads or prospects. On the other hand, sales activities are focused on converting prospects to actual paying customers.
Marketing activities include:
• consumer research to identify the needs of the customers
• product development – designing innovative products to meet existing or latent needs
• advertising the products to raise awareness and build the brand.
• pricing products and services to maximize long-term revenue.
On the other hand, sales activities are focused on converting prospects to actual paying customers. Sales involves directly interacting with the prospects to persuade them to purchase the product.
Marketing thus tends to focus on the general population, whereas sales tends to focus on individuals or a small group of prospects.

True, marketing strategies the source revenue, but sales actually bring in the revenue.Marketing brings prospect and sales convert them into customer.Marketing gives recognition to the brand and the company while sales maintain and retain the same by providing best solutions and services.Marketing creates need of the product and sales fulfill the need.

Both are necessary for the company's growth.

Sales is the only source of revenue for the company, other are expenses whether its marketing or finance whatever. Marketing do helps in generating the revenue. From finding the need to creation of product or services to pricing and then communicating with the public, each and everything is done through Marketing, sales people sell these products or services to the end consumers.....Marketing develops strategy of what to sell, sales people devise a strategy of "How to sell".

Both complement each other.....
