• Products are tangible while services are intangible eg. : one can touch, see, smell a product one wishes to buy vs. experiencing a foot massage at a spa
• While a product is concrete, service is an activity or a process eg. : while an aircraft is a product, flying to a particular destination is a service.
• Products are homogeneous while services are heterogeneous eg. : anybody producing a good can standardize the output. The quality of service depends on whom, when and where the service is provided.
• The core value of products is produced in the factory while that of services is produced in the buyer – seller interaction
• Products/Goods can be stored. It is impossible to store services. There is transfer of ownership of goods from the manufacturer to dealer to customer. eg. : buying and selling of cars. In services you can have access to the service but cannot own it. eg. you can stay in a hotel room but cannot own it.

Product involves what goods or services should be offered to customers. The product or service serves the basic need of a customer.A product provides the primary value to customers. On other hand,Customers buy services, not products so marketers should adopt a service model of marketing.Customers buy products for the services that they provide.

A product is a tangible item produced or sold by a business while a service is an intangible benefit provided to the customer.

Product & Service both are different. Product is a physical one which we can see and touch. It can be stored for a period of time. But service is provided by the service provider it cannot be separated with one another. And it cannot be stored for a long period of time.

A company must consider 4 aspects of services which are different from the products.
1.) Intangibility- A service can not be touched, seen , heard, etc. i.e. they can not be perceived
2.)Inseparability- A service can not be separated from the service provider
3.)Variability- A service quality may vary depending on the service provider
4.) Perishability- A service can not be stored for future use. it has to be used as soon as it is provided by the service provider.
