Yes ! I feel any company who designates Sales Manager are true Sales Managers, because there is an hierarchy process in any company, through which one climbs from the position of Management Trainee to Sales Manager and to reach this position one has to make really good efforts.. and if he doesn't make that efforts he doesn't reached that level..

Along with this, this would not be correct as my opinion to say Sales Manager are not True Sales Manager..

In India do all the companies who designates Sales Manager are true Sales Managers...What's your opinion?

A person became a sales manager only because of his performance and this applies not only in India but all over the world...Even in India there are large no. of people who are in sales but everybody cannot not become a sales manager and the one who achieve that designation is only because of his hard work and great performance in the past...The growth of the company mainly depend on the sales and it is only the sales manager who is the BOSS for that as he has to perform these various task-
- Making strategies...
- Making his own team...
- Motivating his team time to time...
- Setting up the sales target...
- Sales Forecasting...
- And the most important handling the customers/clients which nobody can do better than the sales manager...

Designations are very deceptive... Manager is a true manager if he is managing a team of people effectively, most of the times companies give Sales manager designation to individuals who don't have team at all.

At the end of the day every one is selling but if you observe latest trend people don't want "Sales" word in their designation at all and fancy designation like Brand specialist, solution consultant are coming in market.

A true sales manager is a person who manages a team effectively and help them in showing right way to achieve target MOM. Sales manager should have a very strong background of target achievement rather over achievement..once he knows how to get business from market he can train his sales force accordingly.


So a good sales manager is one who can get sales number from his team.
