Top management level plays the role of a leader in the organization, it's responsible for providing direction to the organization and the other levels of management. It is in charge of developing strategies and plans that have long term effects on the organization. Also this level of management does most unstructured work, such work requires the decision makers to have intuition, experience and creativity. The top level is required to have a vision of the organization's future because the plans they have to prepare are made for 5 years ,10 years or even longer duration.

Success of an organization largely depends on the decisions that the top management makes, and the long term strategies and plans devised by them, which is why they are answerable to shareholders and government. The responsibilities of individuals at this level requires them to have conceptual knowledge and an in depth knowledge of the industry and their own organization. However technical skills are not mandatory at this level.

" With great power comes great responsibility" , We all remember these lines by Uncle Ben, don't we?
Well if not all, managers certainly do.
The success of a business is at the mercy of the top management.
They play the puppets and run the show.
There are very important roles that they need to play in the organization. Some of them, being:
(i) Designing the vision and mission of the company
(ii) Decision making
(iii) Planning investments correctly
(iv) Employing the right people to sit on the right chairs
(v) Aligning their interests with the interest of the company

Top Mgt is responsible for the vision and No if its team is not able to implement. There are instances where we find excellent CEOs and cos fail and somewehere CEO is not that good and co performs excellently..

According to my opinion each and every level of management such as lower level, middle level and top level all dependent upon each other.
Because till the top level management did not take decisions about the next step the middle level and low level are cannot act on that.

And till middle level did not present the report in a correct way and if unable to manage their teams in good way then the top level cannot take the
right decision at the right time.

And if low level did not tell about the problem and stage of the progress or any production need the middle level cannot make the report and unable submit
the report which helps the top level to take decisions,

So top level is not alone responsible, but you can say that any result comes out of the decision made by the top level management only,
where directly top level management is responsible but indirectly middle and low level also responsible for the same.

I believe that the top management is not completely responsible for the success and failure of the organisation. It is everyone's efforts which help in growing the organization. Top level management is responsible for framing the policies, mission, vision and also allocating work to middle level management. The most important work of doing things right is done by the lower level of management. Lower level managemnet consists of the technical workers who carry out all the production activities. The work given by the top level management to the middle level is then directed to the lower level of management. All are responsible for the success or failure of the organisation. Infact more credit should be given of the lower level of managemnet because they carry out most of the activities which requires a lot of hard work. When the company earns profits, its share should be given to the lower level because it's their hard work which has brought success for the technical part. So, top level management should handle responsibilities well, so that work then distributed should be proper which will indirectly help in growing the organisation.

No , I dont think that only the top management is responsible for the success and failure within the organisation. But its overall organisation and every employee into it who decides this factor. Though the policies and objectives are set by the top management, But everyone in the organisation has been assigned with some or the other task. And its very important for all to perform the task which is allotted to them effectively and efficiently. Every employee has to play there role perfectly including the top management to the lower level workers. All together the result leads to success or failure. The responsibility should be taken individual to complete the task which has been given within the time frame and meeting the benchmarks.

Yes and No :

Top Mgt is responsible for the vision and No if its team is not able to implement. There are instances where we find excellent CEOs and cos fail and somewehere CEO is not that good and co performs excellently..

So success of a co is on the team and definitely the prime responsibility is on the leader.
