Job rotation referred as an employee changing the position within the same organization and then again returning to the same position.
Job rotations are of different types. They are:
1). Task rotation
2). Position rotation
Task Rotation: This type of rotation of job takes place in those industries where an employee have to perform high degree of physical demands on body or high degree of repetitive work.
With the help of the task rotation the stress upon the employee can be reduced by assigning him/ her another task which requires less degree of physical demands.
Position Rotation: It is the process of moving an employee to different position, department or geographic locations for the purpose of professionally developing the employee by exposing him/ her to new skill and knowledge.

Job rotation is kind of motivation technique for employees working in the organisation. Job rotation helps in enhancing and developing the skills of the employees. Employees are rotated to different job designations to maintain equilibrium in the organisation. The employees feel happy to work in the organisation. They learn the different aspects of the different fields and departments in the organisation. And when employees feel satisfied, they contribute their best to the organisation which in turns helps the organisation to grow. And with the growth of the organisation the employee also grows.

Job rotation is a phrase used to refer to the planned movement of people between jobs over a period of time and for one or more of a number of different purposes. Basically there are two forms of job rotation.
One is within-function rotation and the other is cross-functional rotation.
Within-function rotation means rotation between jobs with the same or similar levels of responsibility and within the same operational or functional area. Cross-functional rotation means movement between jobs in different parts of the organization over a period of time.
The jobs identified for cross-functional rotation are likely to be arranged in a sequence representing increasing levels of responsibility. Job swaps, as the name suggests, may involve no more than two individuals in different departments or functions, exchanging jobs for a limited period.

Job rotation in a workplace is a system were employees work at several jobs in a business, performing each job for a relatively short period of time. Job rotation allows the employees to learn about different types of work, giving individual employee a better sense of what what their co mates do and a better overall understanding of their own organization. Spending a few weeks or month working at a job enables a worker to get a real understanding of the job and what is involved in it. Job rotations are more commonly practiced in medium to large sized business. Job rotation can be used as a motivational tool. Most employees will welcome an opportunity to learn new skills. The employers can use to find the best placement for each employee.

Job Rotation is a management technique as well as a learning mechanism. As a learning mechanism, employees are given the opportunity to learn necessary skills which can help them to advance within a company. The company may benefit from using job rotation by having the ability to staff key positions within a company. This practice may allow a company to run more efficiently, and as a result, become more productive and profitable. Although Job rotation is not used by every organization, as it depends upon nature of product and company.

Job rotation can also be used to reduce the physical and mental stresses endured by employees when working the same position, year after year. Job Rotation is also believed to have the ability to decrease the amount of boredom and monotony experienced by employees who work the same position for extended periods of time.

Job rotation is an imp aspect in a person career path. However it depends more on an individual than the company. Generally the employee is not interested to take on a job rotation because they become secured in a job . However there are very few employees who want to take a new challenge in job rotation Job rotation can be really good but a person first should expertise in the profile he is alloted for before opting for a job rotation.

Job pressure has got no relevance with job rotation. It is on individual how he handles job pressure
