Not actually a very good move....when all other things prices are going high...this news is certainly not an ointment . No any pharma company is facing the crisis but yes the individual pocket is....Non-essential drug prices if increased would have been much better as they are rarely used by common people.

The government has allowed Pharma companies to raise prices of 509 essential drugs, these medicines include medicines for Diabetes, Cancer and Hepatitis. Minister of commerce and industry confirmed that the annual price rise amounts to the 3.84% in the wholesale price index.

Welcoming the decision, Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) secretary general D.G Shah told PTI “It is a part of the policy. Pharmaceutical companies don’t get a chance to hike prices (more than once) a year. This price hike is linked to inflation. The government regulates prices of all other medicines and the companies are allowed to raise the prices by no more than 10 % in one year.
