Pakistan media regulatory has fined some TV channels of their country for showing excessive Indian content..the authority has imposed a fine of Rs.10 million on ten entertainment channels for airing excessive Indian content for more than 10 per cent of the air time.
The issue of Pakistani channels airing Indian content recently came up in the National Assembly when the ministry of information was asked to explain whether the local channels had been a free hand to air Indian entertainment programmes, including soaps, films and stage shows. As per the Pakistan authority rules Pakistan's private TV stations can have ten per cent of foreign content, 60 per cent of which should be Indian or other content and 40 per cent may be English content.
The channels that have been fined include Geo TV (entertainment), Express Entertainment, Hum TV, Oxygen TV, Play TV, Kohinoor Entertainment, TV One, NTV Entertainment, GXM Entertainment and Jalwa Entertainment. But after this the action from localites was shocking for Pakistan and welcome one for India..this move got completely backfired when most of the viewers switched over to direct-to-home (DTH) and other services for access to Indian channels besides prompting local channels to air more Indian content.
