Consumer behavior will depend upon four factors like social, cultural, personnel, psychological.
When consumer want to purchase something then first he will find problem , then consumer will search for information then consumer look for alternatives , finally consumer will take purchase decisions. Consumer buying behavior mostly influenced by social, cultural, personnel and psychological factors.
Social factors like consumer cultural and social classes will influence the consumer behavior
Cultural factors like reference groups, member groups or family and status these will influence the consumer behavior
Personnel factors like age, life style, life cycle, occupation, economic circumstances will influence the consumers.
Psychological factors like motivation and attitudes will influence the consumer.
Consumer may purchase any good if any one motivates towards that particular good. If marketers identify the people in this way they can easily apply their marketing strategy on target customers.

To simply describe the factors that influence the consumer behaviour is "PEST" factors. These factors play a huge role in infleuncing businesses but they also play a key role in influencing the consumer behaviour and their buying patterns. PEST is:
1. Political factors
2. Economic factors
3. Social factors
4. Technological factors
Political is basically the how India as a whole operates, the political parties etc. Economic factors includes disposable income in the hands of the consumers. Social factors include societal pressures, the standard of living. Technological factors include the rapid changing technology, its cost, its acceptance etc. All these play a major role in influencing consumer behaviour.
