Marketing purely creates the needs and wants of a customers. For example 20 years back, nobody heard about the internet and computers .what are the usage of computer and how to use this .But today the scenario is totally different .Today internet and computers are used by several millions of users across the world. Some cosmetics commercials are creating needs among customers For example Fair & lovely Fairness cream creates a need among girls that they can become fair and beautiful in some days by using this product. So Marketing however, creates the needs. But sometimes it satisfies the needs .The word 'free' is the most common used I found in the ads, free is used in combinations such as free home trial, buy one get one free, free installation, free home delivery, free parking, free consultation, such as 20% free, buy 2 for 1oooo and get another free, free home service, free home trial etc. So we just satisfied with this service.Hence Marketing does both......
Under the umbrella of Marketing.. there are mutiple functions works.. such as Sales, events, PR, Advertising & other.. In telecom industry 10 years back.. the phrase Marketing created than satisfied the need.. worked really well.. within the span of 2-3 years the ratio of the people having a hand phone was much higher, Marketing work as a cycle where needs get created and then gets satisfied..
Marketing does both..!! It creates and also satisfies needs of customers. For established firms, it's essential to be able to satisfy the needs of customers. As they say, a satisfied customer is a profitable one. To be able to satisfy the customer's needs, the firm thus tries to understand it's customer's needs and then attempt try to deliver it. On the other hand, new firms or marketing these days also attempt to 'create' needs. By doing so, the customer have a reason to buy the product. The basic reason customers purchase anything is they need it. Hence marketing these days have evolved to create needs for customers.
