Competition Commission of India (CCI) has cleared five online retail giants of the allegations of unfair trade practices. The five retail majors cleared of charges were Flipkart, Jasper Infotech, Xerion Retail, Amazon and Vector E-Commerce. Snapdeal is run by Jasper Infotech and is run by Vector.

CCI said in a 10 page order that the commission was of the prima facie view that no case of contravention of the provisions of either section 3 or section 4 of the Act is made out against the opposite parties.

There have been rising concerns among brick and mortar stores, over the discount sales announced by online retail firms such as Flipkart and Snapdeal, these sales have been accused of being anti-competitive in nature. With regards to exclusive agreements between e-commerce sites and product sellers, CCI said that such pacts need not result in appreciable adverse effect on competition.
