I think sales is both an art and science as it not only includes the art of convincing the customers to buy the product but also the facts of information regarding the product that is also served to customers for their knowledge. To be really good at selling something, you don’t just have to be able to talk smoothly to your audience or consumers, but you also need to have some valuable information for them as well. Selling is not just about offering your product to the potential buyer and answering his questions about it. It also involves analyzing, understanding people and why do they might behave the way they do and knowing the product or the service that you are trying to sell. Most of this is not something that people are born with, so you have to develop many of these skills through time, learning and training.

Sales is an art as well as science.Selling is not just about offering your product to the potential buyer and answering his questions about it. It also involves analyzing, understanding people and why do they might behave the way they do and knowing the product or the service that you are trying to sell. Most of this is not something that people are born with, so you have to develop many of these skills through time, learning and training. This is the only way to become a truly successful salesman.

A sales conversation is an art form that requires a skill, vision... Professional sales is a science that is based on research in order to produce more consistent results for future sales. you just rely on your luck, good looks or charisma, you may have a little success in the beginning, but after that, you will likely hit a wall and not be able to sell anything to anyone. Without a proper scientific approach implemented in your sale, that includes the knowledge of the product or service, careful analysis of the potential costumer and many other things, you really cannot expect to be good at this.

Always remember that without putting a solid effort into preparing yourself for what lies ahead of you, whether it is sales or something else, you really can’t expect any long-term success.

According to me, Sales is an art, Because it differs from person to person. Since science is a systematic approach and it remains
The same, Universal at any place or person to person.

Sales is both an art as well as science.Sales is a science because you have to follow certain principles, formulae during the entire sales cycle. It is an art because you have to use certain tactics and creativity to attract the customers.

Sales is an art of convincing the customers and turning them into perspective consumers. If one tries to learn sales with any formula he might get through in the beginning but later he might fail. So one should always do sales through his/her own art.

Sales is a mixture of both.. Science and Arts... Selling is not just about offering the product to the prospects and answering their questions... It also involves tactics to reach potential customers, analyzing, understanding their needs...

Well, its very difficult to say that sales is only art or science...because if we say that it is an art then it means people have a talent for the “art”,they are good at something naturally. Naturally good means that they have born talent with them so they are different and can be good in many different ways.In sales the most imp thing is that sales person can transfer his or her feeling to other by analysing the voice modulation, sense of sight etc. and these things comes under art.
Where as if we say sales is science then it is also correct because in sales you have to play with the numbers, you have to follow some logical steps ,maintain the records etc.
So, according to me sales is both an ART as well as SCIENCE.

sales is an art as well as science. it is science because it includes the systematic and step by step process like prospecting, approaching, presentation, quarry handling and at last closing the deal. science is all about the systematic and step by step approach.
sales is an art because the technique that is used by the sales man is different from one to another. it is a kind of inherent thing in the person that he or she uses for cracking the deal. we can see the example around us because the art of sale is always different form one to another.

Today the biggest field which employs the biggest sum of people is the "Sales Field". every day millions join this lucrative field and on the other hand, millions give up saying it is ruthless, tough, harsh etc. and finally out of the millions only few sustain the jobs, excel and enjoy the lucrativeness of this field....

If it all sales had been a scientific approach everyone joining the field would have studied this science, memorized it and would have become a "Pandit" at it. but this do not happen in the practical world and thus I say sales is definitely an art and not a Science.

Sales is not a cup of tea for who ever joins it, rather its an art which is performed at its best only if you have high fondness in it , high interest in it...It won't be wrong if we say that sales is a mixture of art and science, because in today's era the definition and the logic of sales has changed completely it is no more a job where you just need to have a store and things happen automatically...Today in sales we need to srategise, we need to plan, we need to take risks, and we also need to discover new ways and tactics to strengthen our sales...today every one is linked to science one way or the other and similarly the sales too..

"U"have the talent , "U" have the art but if you approach to it with a scientific process based strategy u'll excel for sure... Also this is the point where sales people get restricted they take it as science but loose the fondness in it and go for it just as a job...result is failure. One should look at it through different perspective and should ask himself "Is it what I really want to do?" if the answer is "Yes". Then go for it with complete dedication and Nobody can stop you..

Sales.. is an Art as well as Science.

Science because .. it is process oriented, one has to follow a set of processes to carry on the business, It requires maintaining CRMs, creating checklists, record keeping,

Art because .. One has to handle take decisions, understand the behavior of customer and accordingly respond to it, It requires maintaining customer relationships which is an art.

Thus, Sales is a mixture of Art and Science.. It is the ratio that how one sees it.
