Standing as the highest grossing film in Bollywood so far, Rakesh Roshan’s latest offering Krrish 3 has collected good numbers over 3rd weekend. By the end of the third weekend, Krrish 3 has collected Rs. 235.22 cr at the domestic box office.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Krrish3 Weekend 3 breakup: Fri 2.44 cr, Sat 3.02 cr, Sun 3.76 cr. Grand total: Rs. 235.22 cr nett. All Time Blockbuster… All versions”.
Business of Krrish 3 was partially affected by new release Ram Leela, yet the Hrithik Roshan starrer has once again done fantastic collection at the domestic circuits in its third weekend. The movie collected 8.97 crore in its third weekend, thus making the total domestic collections after the third weekend as 235.22 crore.
In just 17 days, the movie has become the highest grosser of 2013 and all time highest grosser, beating the record of Chennai Express.
After the release of Ram Leela on November 15, trade experts had predicted that this most-awaited Hindi movie would draw back the business of Krrish 3. The Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer did to a little extent, but not to the expected mark. Krrish 3 became the first choice for many viewers even in the third weekend.
On November 15th, Krrish 3 lost out many screens to Ram Leela; so, the collections dropped up to 50% on its third Friday. But, the movie picked up well on Saturday and Sunday.
Though the film has performed faultlessly well in India, it has under-performed in overseas markets. In the worldwide collections list, Krrish 3 stands at the 3rd position; it is tough for the film to beat the global earnings of 3 Idiots that stands at 393 crores and Chennai Express that stands at 422 crores.
Krrish 3 is expected to finish with 238-240 cr nett lifetime figure. With such a huge figure, standing at the top of the business chart, the super hero flick has emerged as a great blockbuster and the biggest hit for Hrithik Roshan.

Everyone is going to celebrate Diwali on 3 November, but for cinema halls diwali sesaon has begun from today onwards. In the last five years (see the box), 'Krrish 3' happens to be the first solo release on Diwali. In fact, it is also the first time when a movie is not releasing on the day of Diwali, but is releasing on Dhanteras, two days before the festival. For cinema hall owners, for whom it has been a dull phase owing to a series of flops and a drop in footfall, Diwali will start from today with Dhanteras kickstarting the five day long festivities.
Krrish3 was supposed to be released on Diwali but shifted its release date two days before the festival. Calling it a strategic planning, Anant Verma, director and business head, DT Cinemas, says, "Agar Diwali Tuesday ya Wednesday ki hoti hai toh, release prepone kar dete hain filmmakers and instead of releasing the film on Friday they release it on the day of Diwali. This time the week is starting from November 1. So the filmmakers also accepted friday as the best day to release.
For the cinema halls, Diwali is starting from Dhanteras because of the release of a blockbuster after a long lull. As in the month of October, the ticket windows registered a dip in terms of revenue generation, they are expecting people to queue up for Krrish 3. "The dull period will get over from Dhanteras. Hrithik Roshan is a big star and he will be able to bring back business for us," says Deepak Sharma, COO, PVR Pictures.
