Depends on the job, and to the extent the skill is needed to perform a job. For example if in some jobs if a person is willing but lacks the skill required to perform the job, then this gap can be closed by training him. In some jobs if a person is skilled, but lacks will, then you can probe into why it's that way and give him incentives to do better.

However ultimately if the skill is more important as no amount of will can help a person perform a function if he lacks the necessary aptitude and attitude to perform that function. Will can be reinforced with motivation, but the same is not true for skill, most times it takes too much time and resources to train a person.

“When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece” – John Ruskin.
Here, love signifies the willingness. It adds that zeal which can help reach excellence.

Everybody has some talent, attitude and skill in them but all of this combined with willingness to do the work is what makes them go ahead. In sales, both of them go hand in hand. Ignoring one part of it will lead to some undesirable effect or the other. One needs to think smart, and one should use it wisely to succeed in sales.

Skills can be enhanced by proper training but willingness is something that comes from within. You need to love you work and simultaneously work hard to reach great heights. Therefore both are a necessary tool in sales, something that can lead you to the success road.

When it comes to selling Skill is more important than will. All sellers have more or less the same kind of will to sell, but few have the skill to. These few go on to become successful marketers.
Because when you meet your customer all that you have to do is convince him to buy your product, will does very little in convincing your customer, this is where skill comes in.
A skilled sales professional knows the right thing to say to the right customer so that he is convinced of the benefits of the products.

In sales will and skill both are important .Skill is something which can be matched and learned but when your sales record are degrading and you are not able to achieve targets then its your will only which pulls you up and tells you to make one more attempt and that is the winning attempt. The stringent desire to win is will and to persuade with integrity is skill. In sales will and skill may be needed simultaneously or one at a time. They are like the two sides of a coin in which ignoring one will lead to downfall in the field of sales. Smart works when required in sales it requires skills and hardship in sales require will to meet it.

Strong will with key skills are both important. But Skill is more important than will. One can spent lot of effort and energy on things but can get no result if not done skillfully. But when it comes to building a team then will is more important. Skill can be taught and improved but will is something inbuilt with the personality. So strong will along with skills are both important to be successful in any walk of life.

Skills or Will Power which is more important in sales. In my opinion I think both go hand in hand. There are various reasons to support that, in case if a person has skills but lack of will power then in that case he is not suitable for sales projects. Similarly in case if there is no skills of selling then definitely will power cannot do anything. Hence both go hand in hand, it is because many a times sales cannot be converted or closed in that cases will power is the thing which motivates a salesman to try and try unless he get success. Some people give priority to will power and some to skills but the truth is that both go hand in hand. Skills also play a major role in converting a prospect into a loyal customer. Skills when applied with will definitely it ends up closing a sales or making a loyal customer.

Will or skill both are required to do a particular job. There is a saying where there is a will there is a way so it is important that intent should be there. We can not negate the importance of skills because this is something which will make a person successful. Lets put it in a different way will is the basic component for a particular job and skill will streamline the process. In short both are required and can not negate either of them.

Will and skill both are important in sales...Skill is something which can be matched and learned but when your down, not able to achieve targets then its your will only who pull you up and tell you to make one more call and that is the winning call. The burning desire to win is will and to persuade with integrity is skill.

To be precise, will & skill both are symbiotically needed to be successful. At this point of time, i would like to quote an analogy which goes with this discussion. "Skill without will is like having a car without petrol". Even in other way it holds true ! Both go hand in hand to each other. In Sales, you need skills like persuading people with your talks, forecasting, planning, etc..,. These skills alone won't fetch you a proper path to attain your destination. If your destination or target is easily reachable, you can manage to hit the pot with the skills what you are endowed with but if it's not at your ease, you really need will power to push yourself to the target. To conclude my discussion, I would say 'Skills with will is a complete package for any sales personnel'

Will is more important. The will is the key power that rules minds and is essential to achieve something worthwhile. It is required in the beginning to drive in the sale process. But skill is something that can be developed and honed over a period of time through experience.
