Sales and marketing are two different broader terms for the success of any product and organisation. Since they both are used for generating revenue , that people often get get confused between the two concepts. Sales is a process of selling the products or services to the end customers , whereas marketing is a process of creating that brand which can help in selling the products or services. Sales is majorily focussed towards earning profit and generating revenue , whereas marketing is majorily focussed towards building a customer relationship. The art of creativity is best showcased in the process of marketing through branding , advertisement , slogans etc., whereas the real hard nut is cracked in the field by the salesperson by selling the products or services.. Hence both of the activities go hand-in-hand and is incomplete without each other.

Sales focuses on converting a call, it assumes that you already have a product in your hand, and there is nothing you can do about designing, modifying your offering and assessing the trends of the market, your objective is to find the consumer and convince him to buy the product. This process might require one to highlight advantages of the product and convincing the consumer that it offers him/her value for money.

Marketing on the other hand is about positioning. Marketing includes creating, communicating and delivering value, as opposed to the communicating and delivering approach of the old selling concept.

In order to generate revenues firms must perform both of these functions effectively. Marketing should be used to create the right product and generating awareness about the product, but also sales function is needed to make that final push to convert the potential call into a sale.

both sales n marketing complement one another. Marketing activities helps in easier sales while sales helps in generating revenue. Sales is the only function in the organization where revenue is generated otherwise each and everything leads to investment.

Sales vs Marketing
Sales and Marketing are two different terminologies. There is a great difference between both the terms like Sales starts with a seller whereas Marketing starts with a customer , the focus of the sales is to convert the syllable surplus(product) into cash on the other hand the job of marketing is to identify the consumer’s needs and convert it into a marketing opportunity and obtain a product or service from this opportunity, sales only talks about generating cash whereas marketing talks about cash and also focuses on customer satisfaction and here sometimes customer feels delighted when satisfaction is more important than expectation , in sales firstly company tries to make the product and then find the ways to sell it whereas in marketing company tries to identify the consumer need and then find the ways to sell it , sales focuses on short term whereas marketing focuses on long term, sales is a part of marketing because proper marketing leads to large amount of sales.
