Inside Sales is the selling of product or services by sale personnel through phone or online. It is very much common in retail industry. It is very much difficult then outside sales because sales person has to judge the customer through his/her words not by direct face to face meeting. It becomes important for the inside sales person to communicate properly with the customers. Now a days, many companies have started outsourcing their inside sales. They mainly used to do this to increase their sales and they also don't not invest on setup of new inside sales department. But I think inside sales is important for any business because it also creates the brand equity of the firm. The firm should not give such important part of their business to some others hand. If by outsourcing, any sales person communicate incorrectly with your customer then your company might lose that customer forever or even more customer due words of mouth.

Inside Sales Outsourcing - Yes! The biggest question, Why any company outsource its any of the operation(s)?

The major reasons are not only the incompetency or the low cost. Their are the such companies in the market especially in IT sector, who make such the huge investment on outsourcing and they can even afford to have higher competent people internally, still they outsource. Why? :shock:

The major reason for outsourcing is to have primary focus on the core business objective. E.G. any software company would love to enhance the product performance, will do the innovation night over night or would love to have the best and unique product in the market, therefore, they will focus on product in stead of sales, sales will come automatically, what they need to do is to enhance the product and their services night over night.

NOW outsourcing arises! Grab the low hanging fruits! Outsource your sales process to an expert like you are a product expert!

They will do the innovation to boost your sales up; however you need to have a hawk eye on their sales process be it demand generation or end-to-end closure. You can ascertain the quality parameters along with your vendor's QA team, you can formulate the DB strategy with your vendor's project manager (SPOC) or you can formulate the sales strategy with C-Level of your vendor.

Let the outsourcing engine run and you boost up your sales at :arrow: CAGR

BUT YES!!!! YOU NEED TO HAVE THE STRATEGIC CONTROL OVER IT.

I feel that inside sales can be outsourced if it is a product to be sold .. For services if there is consulting it is not advisable

outsourcing of inside sales...a subjective topic...clearly it depends.....if someone guarantee of good results and company has no competency in this...they can outsource......

outsourcing is done mainly of two reasons....no competency and/or cheaper cost....whatever is the suitable..companies opt for this....

Well this is a very debatable question..Sometimes when organisation aim is just to generate lead from tele calling outsourcing can considered as a good option because you aim in this scenario would be to reach out to maximum customers in min time..You need not to setup all together a different department and invest on all resources. Better way is to outsource it to experts.

But when you are looking for an end to end sales process outsourcing is not feasible because you don't have absolute control on quality of calls this might result in degradation of your Brand Equity. Be it Inside or field sales, your sales personnel are your Brand ambassador and if any wrong communication is made by them in market it spreads like fire.

I personally feel Outsourcing for lead generation is acceptable because it can be a short term activity..but end to end sales activity through inside sales should be a integral part of company.
