Car sales in India rose to highest in fiscal in the month of September...which has raised the hopes of recovery in the market which was facing a prolonged slowdown.Domestic car sales have improved for the first time this fiscal with the industry selling 1.56 lakh cars during September, up 0.73 per cent compared with 1.54 lakh in the corresponding month last year.
“The good news is that for cars, passenger vehicles, utility vehicles and two-wheelers, September was the best month in terms of absolute numbers this fiscal. I hope we can continue with this momentum,” SIAM President Vikram Kirloskar told reporters.
two wheeler sales also improved 18.39 per cent on year-on-year basis to 12.65 lakh units during the month compared with 10.69 lakh units in September 2012, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said on Tuesday.On the other hand, sale of commercial vehicles is still on the same track, it is plunging day by dayTotal commercial vehicle sales during the month were recorded at 51,680 units, down 26.95 per cent against 70,746 units in September 2012.
